Our Model

Our commitment to closing the achievement gap that persists for minority students has led us to develop a challenging and engaging program that sets extremely high standards, then provides many layers of support, including an extended school day for all students; one-on-one tutoring for students struggling in a specific subject; math and literacy resource programs for students who come to Eastside significantly under-prepared; and a boarding program for students who will benefit most from a supportive living environment.

Our faculty is committed to teach, encourage, and inspire our students during school hours and well into the evenings and on weekends. Our students' commitment to their own success has created a culture of achievement in which they become active participants in their own educational and personal growth.

Nowhere is the achievement gap more dramatic than in the fields of math, science, and engineering. As part of our effort to better prepare students for math and science majors and careers, we have been steadily strengthening these programs. With generous support from the Brin Wojcicki Foundation, we launched a series of engineering and computer science classes designed to give our students the opportunity to explore engineering and provide them with the academic support they need to pursue majors and careers in the field.
