Shaneka Julian wins Symetra Heroes in the Classroom award

Eastside Spanish teacher Shaneka Julian got a big surprise last month when she was presented with the “Symetra Heroes in the Classroom” award in front of her class.

Shaneka was honored for her dedication to her students and community, as she has been a beloved teacher at Eastside since 2000. Shaneka received a donation for classroom books and supplies as well as tickets to the October 6 home game against the Arizona Cardinals, where she was honored for her hard work. Congratulations Shaneka!

Interact Club Teams Up with Menlo Park Rotary Club for Leadership Conference

Eastside’s student community service club, the Interact Club, spent a day with their Menlo Park Rotary advisers at the Fall Leadership Conference with 150 other Interact members from high schools around the Bay Area. Students learned leadership skills and spent time getting to know other students. Thank you to the Menlo Park Rotary Club for providing financial support to Eastside and for teaming up with our students for this special event!

Marianne Chowning-Dray Wins Teaching Award from 49ers, Wells Fargo and Symetra

Math teacher Marianne Chowning-Dray’s morning Algebra II/Trig class got a big surprise this morning from the 49ers, Wells Fargo and Symetra. Marianne is one of 16 winners of the “Symetra Hero in the Classroom” award, which includes a donation to her classroom. Marianne will attend the November 2 49er’s game against the St. Louis Rams, where she will be honored on stage before she introduces the 49ers cheerleaders. Congratulations Marianne and thank you for your dedication to our students!
